What is a Fire Risk Assessment?

A fire risk assessment is an on-site visit to assess the potential risks of a fire at a premises. A fire risk assessment report will be produced with the fire assessor’s findings and recommendations.

The purpose of a fire risk assessment is to identify any risks, hazards and general fire precautions the responsible person needs to take. Recommendations are then made in accordance with current fire safety legislation - much like a car MOT but for your premises.

A fire risk assessment gives the responsible person the information needed to understand the potential fire risks of the premises, in order to ensure relevant precautions are put in place. This will also guide them when reviewing their fire policies and procedures.

Why do I need a Fire Risk Assessment?

It is a legal requirement to have a fire risk assessment carried out by a competent person.

It is your legal duty [Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005] and it is an important factor in keeping your employees, visitors and guests safe while on your premises.
